Threads of Power: A History of Women Reclaiming Fiber Arts

Throughout history, “women’s crafts” like embroidery and weaving were deemed “lesser” by the artistic community and society as a whole. However, women have been able to reclaim these art forms to give themselves power for thousands of years. In this video, I explain the political history of fiber arts and how women like Penelope and Arachne are wonderful examples of modern “craftivists.”
