Apple cares about the environment, and so should you
Using corporations to make this a better world
In Cupertino there’s a team inside the Apple campus, solely focused on one thing: the environment. In a world where celebrities push awareness during their oscar acceptance speeches, and big name billionaires are pursuing new ways to recycle our waste, it comes as no surprise that corporations should shift their focus too.
At the Apple press event on March 21st- a big part of their message was that they care about the environment. They might not have cared before, but they now genuinely care. The truth is that they don’t have to do this. They have no obligation to put effort, time and money into something that has realistically no monetary return. One might argue that Apple is the most profitable company in history therefore they clearly care more about the profits, but I like to look at the positive side and acknowledge that there’s always a start to everything, and now is its time.
Apple leads, and most fortune 500 companies follow. Companies that follow will create even more awareness, and ultimately the best we could do aa people, is to use our capitalistic nature to good use. It’s the real meaning behind corporate social responsibility.
This is where you come in. As a consumer wanting buy products or services, you will simply continue to do what you do best, and rest assured that your actions will not negatively effect you in the future, or the next generation of humans. Hell, you should even bring it up in your next meeting at your workplace and be the reason for a better tomorrow.
