Many of us are Apple fans and lovers. I personally own a number of the company’s mobile products but when it comes to its software updates, I find it still lacks some much-needed inclusions. These are simple features, which would make the company’s iOS devices much more useful, in my opinion.

iOS Updates

Apple constantly is releasing updates to its iOS operating system. Currently, it’s on iOS 13 and incremental updates within (e.g., iOS 13.1, 13.1.1, 13.2 etc.) Here are some of the features I’d like to see added in one of the company’s future updates.

  1. Scheduling texts for a later day & time.
A lot of us forget to send a text to someone because we get sidetracked. Apple should introduce a feature in Messenger that will allow one to schedule a text to someone at a certain time on a certain date.
  2. Marking texts as unread
Provide the ability to mark texts as unread because we all get those messages to which we would like to respond to at a later date. y.
  3. Delete accidentally sent texts
We all have pressed sent accidentally either to the wrong person or just something that you shouldn’t have said. I’d like to see a feature that allows me to retract a message if sent accidentally, not unlike GMail’s ability to Undo a missent email within 30 seconds of sending.
  4. Allow group chat to see when one is typing in iMessage
With normal messaging in iMessage you are able to view when the other party is typing. Apple should add this feature to group chats as well.
  5. Tagging people in group chats
We sometimes mute group chat notifications because it gets too much. It would be amazing if we were able to @ someone in the chat to direct a text message directly (and only) to that person.
  6. Sending files/attachments in texts
We all send files through emails and via other methods but sometimes we just want to send files through texts. We can now add photos, GIFs, or links, but it would be great to attach files as well.
  7. Adding widgets to your home screen/lock screen
To be able to add widgets to our home/lock screens would make it easier to have a quick glance at it. For example, Apple should offer a weather widget without having to go to a weather app itself.

I’m sure I’m not the first person to raise some of these suggestions. Hopefully one of the upcoming updates will surprise me and the millions of Apple iOS fans worldwide.
