Apple’s Real Plan Behind AirTags

Apple (NYSE: AAPL) has hardly ever had a problem making money. Take a look back at their fairly long history as a company and there are very few instances where they have struggled financially. Yes, in their early days, Jobs and Wozniak went through some difficult patches, and then there was the period when Jobs left Apple, but today, these instances are all in the company’s rearview mirror. Now, this doesn’t mean that every product Apple makes is a success. The new-ish iPhone Mini was mostly a dud, and the infamous AirPower never even saw the light of day. However, much of the rest of their products do more than make up for a couple of flops here and there.

Enter AirTags

One recent product that was not a flop is Apple’s AirTags. AirTags were released in the spring of 2021, and since then, they have taken over the likes of Tile and other Bluetooth tracking device manufacturers. Consumer tracking devices are not a new technology by any means, but they have never been integrated into an OS quite to the degree that Apple has achieved. Tracking devices like keys and luggage with AirTags attached is as simple as opening the Find My app. From there, one can either ping their AirTag if it’s nearby or track it within inches of its location.
