With the recent release of iOS 15.1, Apple quietly announced that users now have the option to add a digital version of their COVID-19 vaccination card to their Apple Wallet. This doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise, as many businesses and venues are now requiring proof of vaccination for entry.

Although physical vaccination cards can be verified within a database to confirm their validity, the possibility of individuals creating counterfeit vaccination cards still exists. However, this possibility is all but eliminated with Apple’s new addition of verifiable vaccination information in Apple Wallet and Apple Health.

How does it work?

There are 3 methods of adding your vaccination information to your Apple Wallet. They include:

  1. Scanning a QR code. If you are provided with a QR code upon completion of vaccination, you can simply scan this code to add your vaccination card to Apple Wallet.
  2. Downloading a verifiable health record. If you have access to a verifiable health record, you can download this file on your device. After the download is complete, you will find a prompt within the Apple Health app giving you the option to add this information to Apple Wallet. Simply tap “Add to Wallet”.
  3. Connecting to your healthcare
