iPhone 6/6S Plus Leather Case review

This is the first case you should have a look at if slimness, quality, and feeling matter to you.

It’s obvious, isn’t it?

You’re at the Apple Store, you’ve just bought your shiny, brand new iPhone 6 Plus, and you want to protect it. So, what’s the case you’re probably going to end up with?

The Apple Leather Case. At least, this is my story.

iPhone 6/6S Plus Black Leather Case.

At first, I wasn’t so sure about it. I mean, yes, it’s made of leather, but $49? Therefore an Apple Specialist took me to a table with a stand full of colorful cases and politely invited me to try the one I liked the most.
That absolutely convinced me to buy it.

The iPhone 6/6S Plus Leather Case comes in a simple, transparent package. As soon as I took it out, I was immediately reminded why I paid so much for this. The case is slim, makes the phone less slippery, and feels premium (be careful: the Product(RED), or Bright Red as Apple calls it, has a different feeling, almost like its leather has been treated differently to prevent discoloration or something like that). While the outside is made of leather, it has a color-matched microfiber interior: this is a really nice touch, since it prevents the phone from being scratched if the case is removed.
It fits the iPhone perfectly, leaving the bottom edge uncovered. Even if it can be considered as a bad thing (it’s easier to scratch it), it also has its advantages: it’s dock-compatible and will work with any kind of headphone.

I have to spend a few words about a problem that a lot of people are complaining about. As Apple warns on the package, since this case “is made from natural leather, its appearance will change as you use it”. This means the case will wear and tear over time and, if you’ve chosen a lighter color option, it will probably show dirt around the edges very soon. If this is a problem for you, then I highly suggest you to choose a darker color option, like Black or Midnight Blue, or to buy another case.
Also, even if the Apple Leather Case protects the iPhone from scratches and minor drops, it’s not the most protecting case available.

The Apple Leather Case is the case I’ve used the most since I have the iPhone 6 Plus. This is my everyday case because it’s exactly what I need: a slim, high-quality and elegant case.

The Good

  • Slim
  • High-quality
  • It looks gorgeous
  • Dock-compatible
  • It works with any kind of headphone

The Bad

  • It’s not very protective
  • The bottom edge is uncovered, so it’s easier to scratch that part of the phone
  • The case will wear and tear over time
  • Lighter color options will show dirt around the edges very soon

Final Score: 8/10

(This is a subjective score, based first and foremost on my real-life experience with the product.)
