At the event of unveiling Windows 10 I am seeing a new Microsoft and I really like what I am seeing

I am not going to talk about the technical details of the features that was introduced in the event as I am more interested in the underlying messages that points to a very different Microsoft than the one that we know.

It all begins with how simple the whole event was, It had no similarities whatsoever to the expansive iPhone 6 event a couple of weeks earlier, the event was designed to be very focused on delivering a specific message..What is Microsoft trying to tell us ?

For me this is the first event to showcase how Satya Nadella is crafting a new Microsoft with his new strategy of a mobile first cloud first company, nothing says that better than revamping your most important product accordingly.

Microsoft tried to show that they are listening to their most loyal and important customers in an unprecedented way, they are not afraid to confess that they made missteps with Windows 8 and now they are trying to provide a more familiar experience..like having a Prius and then getting a Tesla that is better in everyway but doesn’t require you to re-learn how to drive a car..as Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore described it, also they are more open than ever to involve their customers in the process of building Windows really early on.

Microsoft…More Open Than Ever

This didn't mean simply going back to an updated skin of Windows 7, but rather re-introducing the good ideas of Windows 8 in a more innovative and balanced way.

Talking about innovation, their approach to solve the problem of having a single product working on different devices and screen sizes strikes me as simple and very innovative with “Continuum”, actually they show that they are having the guts to create a new approach different from the simple desktop/mobile operating systems duality that Apple is clinging to, but again in a more balanced way of a company that have heard all the criticism pretty well and are not afraid to simply confess that they were wrong.

Maybe Even innovative

At the event of unveiling Windows 10 I saw a very different Microsoft, much more open, focused and not afraid to say that they didn’t took the right steps before letting their product to make all the talking.

And I can't wait to see what’s coming next from them.
