Staying Safe and Looking at Life from a New Perspective

It’s been a crazy last couple of days, and as we move forward together in an effort to keep as many people healthy and safe as possible, please don’t forget to give yourself a little love. Take a deep breath when needed, get outside when you can safely, and for goodness sake try not to eat the whole bag of Doritos in one sitting.

Although I’ve been one of the people already on edge and suffering from lack of control (perceived or not), I’ve been trying to look out through the eyes of The Hanged Man in Tarot. The Hanged Man can represent letting go, surrender, suspension, enlightenment, transformation, and indecision just to name a few. As the story goes, while on his journey, The Fool came upon The Hanged Man and thought he needed help getting down from where he was hanging. But The Hanged Man explained that it was his choice to hang upside down to see things from a new perspective, to gain enlightenment on the situation. For me he is saying,” Stop working so hard and going in circles, you aren’t making any progress. Instead, step back for a moment and look at things from a different perspective.”

We have been thrust into a situation that feels restrictive, sent home with anxiety and lots of pent up energy. While we have this moment, why not take some time to look out from this new view of things? Take a look around and see what piques our curiosity in a positive, innovative way. New ways of looking at our relationships at home and work, our careers, and the technology we use. New ways to communicate effectively through kindness, compassion, and empathy. New ways to set our egos aside and see things through the eyes of our soul, and see ourselves through the eyes of others.

If we go by the old adage, “Everything happens for a reason,” then we have to wonder why this is happening. Maybe it’s to bring us back together, to appreciate each other and what makes us different and unique. To remember that at a soul level we are all beautiful shiny pieces of the same bright light.

Huge hugs!
