Back Work

Sometime in uni, my Mom asked me when’s it gonna give Min? Okay fine, so she’s not particularly thrilled with the tattoo accumulation, but also, I’m into it. Soooo how can I compromise out here?

So Mom, how about … I won’t tattoo my back. Much.

Great, so now that that’s over with, it ended up being a bit more difficult than anticipated. The bodily real estate started to wane down and my back was just glaringly untouched. Once I moved out of the family home, forreal forreal, I allowed myself to bend our compromise. Sue me.

My Dad lost his father, just too soon. They were as close and we are and I can’t even fathom a loss like that. This tattoo was for my Dad; homage to his parents for molding such quality. Let’s be real. The first letter of his parents names as they flank an infinity symbol, because what flowed through them flows through me. Traps = wings. Need I say more?

Let Life Lead

The neck, was damn painful. Nonetheless, it’s a stoic spot. Holding up the intellect, the ambition, and the hair (let’s face it). It’s no secret that I have anxiety and instead of medication, I travel. A bit of an expensive and time consuming bandaid, but I mean, what the hell right? Before I took my first backpacking trip, I got an etching on my neck that means let life lead (looks like L to the third power). Just, let life do it’s thing and stop trying to resist which (shocker) equates to anxiety. My hope was that the reminder would permeate through that neck and rest in my brain at the moments it needs to. Did that occur? No, lol, but the intention remains!

Enveloping the pithy life ideas, are two hieroglyphic symbols. They mean, throne, in Ancient Egyptian and they coincide with the Goddess Isis (throne) tattoo that I have on my thigh. Historically, this Goddess was seen as the personification of the throne, or royalty, and that’s how I wanted to view myself.

Has that happened?

Well, self improvement is a work in progress hey?
