Don’t Filter Or Edit Your Dating Profile Photos

Advice for Women from a Guy

If you do, men won’t trust you. And we can always tell.

If a woman’s profile photo shows her with unnaturally smooth skin, larger-than-normal eyes, and an angelic glow about her, of course I easily see through that. So does any guy.

But the next thought is, “what is she hiding? Why does she need to use filters and edits on every photo? Is she really that insecure, or that ugly?”

In addition, you are lying.

Yes, I said it, you are lying to a man if you edit or filter your photos. When you meet him in person is he going to see you through those filters and edits?

Imagine a man who edits photos of himself to look taller, or edits himself into photos of wealthy and famous people or a big house and a nice car. You show up for a date, and none of those things are true.

You are doing the exact same thing when you edit photos of yourself or use filters for online dating sites. In your photos you should try to look your personal best, but no better. You’re not trying to attract an internet stranger to flirt online with endlessly. You want someone to see in person, to snuggle with on the couch. At some point in time they are going to have to see you. Don’t set a bad precedent by lying from the beginning.
