Welcome to the 17th edition of the aelf Monthly Digest, covering the developments and progress made in November 2023. This report provides an overview of the advancements in aelf’s technology, ecosystem development, and partnerships during the past month.
Technology
aelf Explorer v1.3.7
aelf explorer has undergone an upgrade to v1.3.7, introducing several improvements. This includes clearer instructions for Block Producer (BP) applications, a faster voting process, and an optimised login experience. The enhanced BP application instructions provide users with a straightforward understanding of the requirements for running nodes on the aelf blockchain and the steps involved in becoming a BP. For those who prefer participating in aelf governance by voting for nodes rather than running them, the aelf explorer now offers an improved and expedited voting experience. The voting function is accessible through the explorer and the Portkey App via its “Discover” section, catering to both desktop and mobile users and facilitating everyone’s engagement in aelf governance. Additionally, users can enjoy an enhanced login experience, ensuring a smoother and hassle-free interaction with the platform.
aelf Indexer under Active Improvement
aelf indexer plays a crucial role in efficiently indexing and tracking all events generated by the execution of on-chain transactions. By capturing and organising data, it ensures that DApps remain synchronised with the latest information from the aelf network. With the upcoming upgrade to v1.2.0, aelf will introduce significant enhancements to optimise data indexing, empowering the indexer to efficiently store and retrieve extensive blockchain data. Moreover, the abstraction and access layer of the database is encapsulated to enhance code readability and offer a universal interface for simplified access to the database.
aelf Oracle Upgrade in Full Swing
aelf oracle serves as a vital component in the aelf ecosystem, facilitating smart contracts’ access to off-chain data. Anticipating the release of an enhanced oracle in December, aelf has been actively developing new functionalities, including verifiable random function (VRF) and data feeds. The distributed nodes of the oracle, deployed off-chain, benefit from efficient communication and improved security, leading to a substantial enhancement in the decentralisation and scalability of the aelf ecosystem.
Enhancement of aelf’s Cloud-Native Computing Capabilities
aelf has made progress in its cloud-native computing capabilities by improving the execution of smart contracts. BPs can delegate the execution of smart contracts to single or multiple Orleans Silo servers. Upon receiving a request from the BP node, the Orleans Silo servers execute the task and return the results.

The aelf team actively engaged in networking opportunities and traversed the exhibition floor, gaining firsthand exposure to the latest fintech innovations and brimming prospects.
Through meaningful interactions with a diverse range of companies, including financial institutions, game developers, and technology providers, aelf fostered valuable connections and cultivated promising leads for the Portkey ecosystem. aelf Ventures, the venture capital arm of aelf, is proud to have been a partner of the VNTR Investors Roundtable Singapore. Held during the Singapore FinTech Festival week on November 16, 2023, the event brought together active VC investors, family offices, business angels, and crypto investors to discuss the latest trends and co-investment opportunities in the blockchain and fintech space.
The VNTR Investors Roundtable Singapore provided a valuable platform for aelf Ventures to showcase its expertise and connect with potential partners. Web3 for Startups — Scaling with Google Cloud
We are excited to share that aelf’s Head of Strategy, Linda Ang, participated in a fireside chat hosted by Google Cloud Singapore on the topic of “Exploring Diverse Perspectives on Web3 in 2024”. The event took place on 4 December 2023 at Google’s Singapore office.
Linda discussed the current state of the Web3 industry and shared her insights on the key trends that are expected to shape the space in 2024. She also discussed aelf’s role in the Web3 ecosystem and how the company is helping to drive the adoption of Web3 technologies.
