New Feature: Agricultural Toolbox
Highlight variance, find problems, quantify damage, estimate yields — all in DroneDeploy
NDVI has been a highly celebrated feature of ours over the last growing season, and today it gets even better. We’re happy to announce the release of our Agricultural Toolbox which has the following tools:
- NDVI Toolbox
- Thresholding
- New Algorithms
NDVI Toolbox
In order to truly identify variability in the field, you often need to focus on a small region of a field which may look similar at face value.
By selecting the NDVI Toolbox option from the dropdown, and moving/adjusting the size of the focal window under the histogram (the graph on the top left) you can adjust the colors to highlight areas of variability.
Thresholding
In order to quantify the damage based on ground-truthed data, move the slider to represent the boundaries between bad/okay and okay/good.
This will show you the acreage of the red, yellow and green regions
New Algorithms
We’re no-longer only computing the NDVI value — we now compute:
- NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index)
- ENDVI (Enhanced Normalized Difference Vegetation Index)
- SAVI (Soil-Adjusted Vegetation Index)
- OSAVI (Optimized Soil-Adjusted Vegetation Index)
- RDVI (Renormalized Difference Vegetation Index)
Just select the algorithm you’re interested in from the drop-down, and we’ll do the processing for you.
Note: With all of these indices, you will need valid data from all 3 color channels (NIR, Green, Blue). If you have a standard RGB camera, this will still provide good insights, but will not be true NDVI.
