Data Overflow: Data Programming Contest

I get asked, what is the difference between a Software Engineer and Data Engineer and I always tell this: imagine you have 5 people come to your home and you have to make tea (no offence, coffee lovers, you can make coffee), for them, you would do it without any problem. Suppose you get 20 of them, you might still manage by beg-borrow-steal method. But suppose you get a few hundred guests? You will surely raise your hands and surrender, I am sure. And imagine you do not even know how many needs to be served the next day, perhaps a thousand and then again just 50 and then again 5000. Imagine you have a friend who can handle any varying volume people and can dish out tea. You are Software Engineer and your friend is the Data Engineer. Someone who can handle data at scale is a Data Engineer. Data Engineering does not stop at a Data Engineer, we have Front-End Engineers and Data Quality Engineers who complement and have different challenges altogether.

For anyone in this specialised field, we have a contest — aptly named Data Overflow — https://dataoverflow.affinityanswers.com/ If you are a Data Engineer, an aspiring one or just curious about the field, you must register — we not only have a contest, but also have webinars associated where Data Engineers talk about how to solve problems.
