Buddy Arena Soft Launch 1: The Philippines
Buddy Arena has officially soft launched in the Philippines! Since the Closed Alpha phase, we have made numerous improvements to the game, including a new snow arena, more weapons, and customizable options for in-game avatars. An important objective of soft launch is to gather gameplay data from strategically-selected regions to improve and optimize Buddy Arena. The first phase has just begun in the Philippines, and will continue in more regions as we ramp up to the full launch. All this is done with the end goal of delivering a great game at Global Launch, ideally slated for Q42023 / Q1 2024.
The Philippines has become a hub for Web 3.0 gaming communities, which makes it an ideal location for the soft launch of Buddy Arena. By introducing the game to a community that is already familiar with Web 3.0 gaming and eager to try new projects, introducing the soft launch in the Philippines will provide us an optimal audience to work with.
During Affyn’s Buddy Arena Meet & Play event in Manila, we experienced the love first-hand, and would like to return the favor by shining the spotlight on two amazing people we encountered.
Ryu has been a strong supporter of Affyn since Day One and is one of the original community leaders. His excitement for Buddy Arena is encapsulated by the fact that he traveled five hours just to attend the event in Manila back in June to play the game and meet the team in-person.
He said: “The soft launch of Buddy Arena in the Philippines is an opportunity for me to bond with my family over a fun game. I’m excited to teach my wife how to play Buddy Arena.”
Ryu also sees the soft launch as an opportunity to unite Filipinos, foster a fun community and demonstrate that earning through games is possible. He said: “Affyn is all about quality gameplay and having fun together, I truly believe Buddy Arena will attract more gamers into the world of Web 3.0 gaming.”

We also bumped into Web 3.0 content creator, Miccolo, who is known for his short-form videos educating people about Web 3.0 and content creation. Miccolo’s journey into the world of Web 3.0 began in late 2020 when he joined Yield Guild Games (YGG) as one of their scholars under Kookoo Crypto. He said: “I was quickly drawn to the transparency and ownership offered by Web 3.0, and began creating short-form videos to educate others about this exciting new world.”
When Miccolo was invited to host our Meet & Play event in Manila, he was excited to also try out the game and compared it to other Web 3.0 games he had played.
“I was impressed with the quality of the gameplay and the level of detail that had gone into the game’s development, so I’m excited to see how Buddy Arena will continue to evolve and grow starting from the Philippines,” he added.
Miccolo and Ryu are just two of the many examples of how the Web 3.0 community in the Philippines is growing and evolving. With passionate content creators and community leaders like them, the future of Buddy Arena in the Philippines is looking brighter than ever.
