“The ALA reading experience honestly helped me more than the ALA writing experience. It was through being exposed to the articulation of others and being engaged in discussion, that I discovered my questioning voice was stronger (and more relevant) than my didactic/judgemental voice.”

Sheila Chukwulozie is a Nigerian story maker & performer. After graduating from ALA with the class of 2012, she went on to Amherst College, Massachusetts to get a degree in Theater & Dance. Currently, she is wandering around Africa as a Watson Fellow, researching “magic” in cultures of Mask Making and Cloth Weaving. Email her at schukwulozie10@alaalumni.org.
