The Death Certificate of the N-Word

Recently I wrote a short commentary on the consequences doled out to Morgan Wellen for his use of the N-word. It was titled is it “Cancel Culture of Consequences”. I decided to attempt to write the death certificate of the N-word. I thought about the history bound to its DNA. It’s a horrible word that definitely needs to die. Below is what I believe the official death notice would read.

There it is dead
In the street bleeding out hate
A well-deserved fate
Shot by humanity
Love the bullet
That laid it down
Terrorized the African American and stole our crown
Built chains link by link
In its youth, it rode horses
and murdered men and women
Tied ropes around necks
I bet it laughed as the life drained and blood spilled from our backs
In its heyday, it burned towns down
Prosperous with dreams and hopes
Locked up fathers and orphaned sons and daughters
In the bushes, it laid as dogs and slave catchers
Donned badges sworn to protect all
But we had the gall to believe it meant us too
But nigger killed us anew
Crack rattled in its pockets
as it rocked up our sisters and brothers
Placed pipes between lips
America dipped on the tragedy of failed drug wars
The n-word is a monster that brought horrors to America
However, it’s dead now
The ink barely dry on its death certificate
and let us hope it’s buried and never found
