Private Second Class Travis T. King is a U.S. Soldier who bolted into North Korea a day after he was supposed to travel to an installation in the United States. He slipped his escort detail, and joined a Korean border tour. When his tour came across the Joint Security Area (JSA), he ran into the arms of North Korea.

This is 2023. This is a young Soldier. A Black Soldier at that. I have words.

I highly doubt PV2 King is a young man who ideologically aligns with North Korea, being that it’s not the first time he crossed the line (and when I say “cross the line”, I mean breaking laws, not crossing over to North Korea twice).

For starters, he was a Soldier who got in a lot of trouble during his tour in South Korea. The first problem PV2 King created was when he attacked a local national (read: Korean). King, probably already drunk, asked to drink a Korean man’s drink in a club. The man, probably bewildered at the question, declined. After that, King punched the guy in the face repeatedly. While the Korean declined to press charges, King still got in trouble. King also got in trouble for damaging a Korean police car. Like…
