Intro

I haven’t done a movie review in a long time. In recent current events tied to the 94th Academy Awards (a.k.a., the Oscars) in 2022, a lead character from a 1997 military drama has been thrust into current events. This movie G.I. Jane, was controversial in military social theory, which made it hard-hitting, and striking, churning heads (just like Will Smith’s Oscar’s appearance, no?).

>awkward silence on slapping puns<

Let’s get into it.

G.I. Jane (1997)

A female Senator succeeds in enrolling a woman into Combined Reconnaissance Team training where everyone expects her to fail.

Movie Tagline: “Failure is not an option.”

Plots Synopsis

The Navy SEALs are among the fiercest combat operators in the history of warfare. When a chairperson of the military budget committee pressures the Secretary of the Navy to begin full gender integration of the service, including Navy Tier 2 and Tier 1 services, he points at a test case for a female trainee in the U.S. Navy’s elite SEAL selection program.
