I firmly believe in the philosophy of Chinese military genius Sun Zu, who said “know the enemy.” This is one of the pieces of wisdom found in “The Art of War.”

That’s why I monitor the far right. As a Black person, it’s important to monitor a group that sees me as a mortal enemy. Understanding how these people think is important so you can out-think them.

As a far-right monitor, I’ve watched with disappointment the change of Sen. J.D. Vance. When Vance first appeared on the media landscape, he pushed a form of middle-of-the-road tolerant Republicanism. He did this through his book “Hillbilly Elegy,” which talked about the forgotten working class. He even talked about the GOP reaching out to Black voters. And he was critical of former President Donald Trump who he compared to Hitler.
