IShowSpeed, China, and the N-Word Obsession

It’s time to have a candid conversation about International race relations and Black Americans

For those who are yet unfamiliar, Darren Jason Watkins Jr., AKA IShowSpeed, is an elite-level streamer and media personality. At just 20 years old, he is said to have a net worth of at least $10 million, making him a major player in the social media realm.

As such, he is becoming very well-traveled by visiting an array of foreign countries while bringing his audience along for the ride. Staying true to his rambunctious brand, these excursions are always funny, unpredictable, and even controversial.

Unfortunately, several of his trips involved racist “fans,” and his latest trip to China was certainly no exception.

Indeed, although he has been praised by the CPP for helping to improve international relations by showing sides of the Chinese culture rarely seen by foreigners, I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out the fact that there are other prominent issues, i.e., racism, or at least racial insensitivity towards Black Americans, were ever-present.

This is evident by the fact that he kept getting called the n-word by people who, oddly, also seemed excited to meet him.
