It’s Time to Get Serious About the Addiction Epidemic in the Black Community
RIP to everyone else we’ve Lost to drug abuse
At the tender age of 33, beloved mumble rap pioneer Rich Homie Quan has exited the earthly plain.
Tragically, he allegedly passed away from an overdose of some illicit substance. Even more tragic is the fact that he’s far from the only one.
As someone who recently lost someone to similar circumstances, this growing epidemic is heart-wrenching, to say the very least.
I mean, as a millennial, we used to joke about the fact that our generation sold the drugs, but the new generation is using them. However, at this point, it’s no longer a joke.
So many young and even older adults are dying from drug dependency that I think we are in drastic need of new programs, resources, figures, and funds to help eliminate this widespread and dangerous drug dependency issue.
This latest epidemic seems to be the great equalizer; race, age, income, etc, are all irrelevant. If you or someone you know is presently using street drugs, their lives are in danger — every time they use could be their last.
Make no mistake about it!
