Recently, comedian and actress Mo’Nique did an almost 3-hour interview with Shannon Sharpe in his Club Shay-Shay.

Mo’Nique speaks her truth — something that has gotten her in trouble over the years.

After winning an Oscar for her performance in Precious, the actress claims she was blackballed for speaking out against her treatment during the film’s run.

As Entertainment Weekly reports —

Mo’Nique has long accused Hollywood of blackballing her after she declined to participate in the awards season campaign for Precious, leading to a decades-long feud with the film’s director, Lee Daniels, as well as Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry.

Mo’Nique has no problem speaking out against the misogynoir she has experienced from Hollywood and the public. As a dark-skinned, plus-sized Black woman, Mo’Nique has no problem calling out the prejudice she experiences, or the consensus of many Hollywood players that she should be happy accepting whatever scraps she is offered. Whether it’s being low-balled financially, maligned for speaking up for herself because of stereotypes and prejudices against Black women (especially ones based on colorism and fatphobia), or refusing to be fat, jolly, grateful, simple, and unproblematic, Mo’Nique has experienced turmoil…
