Over the course of my twenty-plus year career, I worked with hundreds of co-workers and clients who, thankfully, maintained a standard of professionalism and consideration for their fellow colleagues. On the other hand, over the years, I did encounter a few “trustees of assclownery whose sole purpose was to stir up as much disruption in the workplace as possible.

Enter Dominic.

There is always (at least) one

Dominic, by every measure, is the quintessential narcissist. Full of self-admiration and often high on his own supply. He exuded an aura that some speculated he purposefully fostered to highlight his “extravagant” charm.

I worked with Dominic for eight years, and during this time he alone held the coveted top spot on my “worst colleagues” list — a list that also includes a former boss who mounted an aggressive campaign to have me terminated because I didn’t fit his cultural standard.

Dominic is that proverbial “bully” from high school who was relentless in causing disorder for anyone in his crosshairs. Honestly, I think he got an abundance of pleasure from watching people feel uncomfortable.
