Kamala Harris for President?

In mid-July 2024, President Joe Biden decided not to seek re-election. As the 46th President not seeking re-election, he suggested that the Democratic Party allow Kamala Harris to take the reins.

Wow. Just, um, wow. Let’s talk about it.

First and foremost, Biden’s re-election dropout so close to Election Day is categorically unprecedented. While Biden’s presidential tenure parallels Lyndon B. Johnson’s in many ways, even LBJ forfeited his possible re-election a lot sooner than this (March 1968).
