Slap In The Face: Black Women Are Using Kamala Harris’ Defeat As An Excuse To Quit
You Don’t Need An Excuse to Stand In Your Truth
I call this a “slap in the face” versus an “unpopular opinion” because I think we need to wake up and be honest.
Listen, I’m all for us being disappointed.
I’m all for us being angry.
What I am not for is us being tired and quitting because Kamala Harris lost.
My question is: what did you do during her campaign that made you so tired?
Did you knock on doors? Make phone calls? Did you travel the campaign trail and attend multiple rallies? Did you mobilize and actively communicate in solution-oriented meetings with live voices (Twitter fingers don’t count)?
Why is Kamala’s defeat the catalyst to your tiredness and retirement?
While Kamala Harris lost, Angela Alsobrooks of Maryland and Lisa Blunt Rochester of Delaware did not. These Black women are two new U.S. Senators. This is the FIRST time two Black women will serve in the U.S. Senate at the same time. They join fellow Congressional members of the House of Representatives, such as Maxine Waters and Terri Sewell.
