Wei Guo: Founding Partner @ UpHonest Capital

We launched our first Cornell Tech After Hours in San Francisco bay area on February 10, 2018! Our special guest Wei Guo shared his story of being an angel investor across China and U.S and his insights in entrepreneurship between these two countries. The discussion was deep and productive, with topics ranging from different principles for cross-border investment to the most common reasons startups fail.

Wei Guo has been one of China’s most prolific startup investors in recent years, backing more than 200 companies with 1 IPO, 2 unicorns, and over 10 companies with valuation greater than 100 million dollars. Washington Post called him one of “China Whispers”. Wei’s portfolio companies include Monkey, tbh, Boom, Unicareer and so on. One focus for Guo is to help portfolio companies globalize their operations.

As a young investor, Wei encourages young generation to start early on investment and asset allocation, and has supported over 10 funds initiated by young investors. Wei is also a supporter for non-profit entrepreneurial organizations, such as Shinect, Women Who Code, the Last Mile.

Recently, Wei was recognized under both the Venture Capital and Big Money Startups categories of the Forbes 30 Under 30.
