Internal Memo on Conduct Moving Forward

On the one hand, a publication about postmodernism can’t enforce an absolute theme for itself. On the other (paradoxical) hand, there are certain themes which are necessarily irrelevant, certain motifs which have already been moved beyond.

Our era is both after the end and unable to end (precisely because the end itself has come to an end; as Baudrillard would say, we live in an era more final than final: an era fatal and definitive).

Because of this impasse, I feel compelled to call out certain contributions to our publication as irrelevant to our (un-, anti-, post-)fundamental(ist) project.

Leon Aparov, for example, writes lazy (I held myself back, in a fit of apophasis, from saying “stupid”) prose. Luna Golicic is the same. Even if we flout all (absolute) convention, we should still retain a modicum of dignity in our writings.

Dee Park, far worse than the rest, whimsies about her failed relationships. But perhaps I am too ignorant about aesthetics and don’t understand the deeper meaning of her poetry to find relevance in it (but if there is a deeper truth, then it’s just a boring poem; our poetry should instead hide the fact that there is no deeper meaning behind it whatsoever — the poem itself should be true).

Our editor should understand her meaning, though, and he should reject her poetry outright!
