Taking another look at Workflow for iPhone and iPad
And why you should too

Workflow is a powerhouse of an app
From Wikipedia:
Created by Ari Weinstein, Conrad Kramer, Veeral Patel, and Nick Frey at MHacks Winter 2014.
When Workflow came out, I remember being floored by its capacity. I had heard of a few of the developers from the Jailbreak community. I knew they were capable devs, but pulling something like this off as an App Store app was impressive.
These developers are some of the most talented guys out there. I used the app for lots of things, but sort of — almost — forgot about it for a little while.

Shortcuts fully charged with Siri
In case you have heard, Apple bought Workflow a while ago and has now integrated it with Siri.
After hearing the news about Shortcuts, I started to get really excited and check it out again. That’s when I bothered to see if there was a Workflow subreddit.
I was gladly surprised to see a decent amount of stuff there.
A few of my favorite Workflows
French Press Timer

I love the french press brew method for coffee. It’s simple, easy to clean up, and makes a decent cup.
I don’t just set a timer for 4 minutes like a lot of directions you might find online. After hearing about a way to set two timers, one for 1 minute and one for 3.
This allows for better extraction and brewing if your grounds are fresh.
As you can imagine this workflow sets a timer for a minute, let’s you know, and then puts another timer on for three minutes.
The reason is you only poor a little bit of water in the french press for the first minute, it allows the coffee grounds to bloom a bit and can reduce the bitterness if there is any.
Screenshot Tool

This workflow is how I made the screenshots for this article. It’s a simple enough workflow that asks you what name you want for the image and then lets you select some screenshots to stitch together.
It then uploads a file to Dropbox for me with the name I selected. This workflow could easily be modified to upload them to iCloud instead.
Jarvis-like morning readout

This one is a modified version of one found on Reddit. Note that it requires an API from dark sky to be set so it will work.
After getting it to work it is pretty damn cool.
Conclusion
Workflow can do a bunch of fantastic stuff; this is all just brushing the surface. If you want to get more out of your iPhone or iPad, you should check it out. Or wait for Shortcuts!
