All-In-One — Give Me a Clue What This Really Means

If this is supposed to be a simple fix, what would they call a hard one?

# 14 Writing Idea of the Day Challenge — Have you ever been confused by the term — All in one?

Definition: All-in-one means having several different functions or parts.

My questions are — What was wrong with one function for one part? Why confuse the issue? Why give me a dozen things when I only need one? Isn’t over-kill a waste of resources? Does somebody have too much time on their hands to sit around and think up these marketing ploys? Is anyone else confused by these so-called all-in-one items?

Like the cover photo, some of these items give me conflicting choices, non-essential information, and useless options.

Recently I was looking up some information on computer hardware. One pre-packaged offer stated that it was an all-in-one deal. Well, I needed all three components but wasn’t sure if I was getting the additional cords, connectors, etc. Well, turns out that no I wasn’t. All that had to be ordered separately. So what good was the all-in-one deal that still required me to complete the setup parts myself? And on top of that, it turned out that I could get all the items separately for a better price.

Another thing I’ve learned with experience is that when you combine different technology into an all-in-one convenient item, you end up with a nightmare situation when one of those pieces breaks. For instance, when the fax goes out on my printer, I lose my printing capabilities while getting the fax fixed. And if all this isn’t enough to make my case, here are a few more things to consider.

  1. These items are usually more expensive.
  2. They cost more to repair
  3. They have a short retail life with few upgrades and short term repair part availability.

So, in conclusion, I’m completely confused as to why we need these all-in-one products?

What are your thoughts?
