Catching up with You
A Poem
Soda pop whizzed up my eye
mayonnaise that goosey Cartier
on my sleeve
I was a wreck and happier than
the fountain in the square
septuagenarians sat
with their backs to the splash
they couldn’t know how I felt about
the propensity of your hands
and the flattery of your clothes
damn! diaphanous skirt and cut-up for a shirt
red, Keds bent on
learning a new hot verse
scuff me you madman
scuff me up, why don’t you…
