No one remembers exactly the moment,
it’s all rusted, been buried inside
and in time, even the memory becomes tarnished, repressed,
then revived from a place old secrets go to hide.

Were his eyes brown or blue?
Were we playing in the sand?
Was that first kiss as wonderful as I had imagined
and always planned?

Or was it wet with anticipation…
As pure as untrodden snow -

Did he dare explore new territory…
Where he knew he shouldn’t go?

But that never stopped any young conquistador
with raging tour de force
and no lovely maiden so infatuated
with something new
never experienced before

pings and pangs
‘yin and yang’

always to be remembered
and never forgotten
tucked away
in a special place

loosely called ‘first love’.
