Just Do It

You’ll thank yourself later

When I started my blog in 2012, I went into it not knowing anything. I never imagined it would grow to be what it is today. Yet, I hoped it would.

The more I worked on my blog — the more followers I received, the more engagement there was, the more requests I got from the authors — I researched different ways I could improve upon my blog. Each year, I implemented these ideas.

I taught myself everything that goes into blogging — website design, SEO, graphic design, social media, marketing, and more.

After that, everything I pursued I needed to know about beforehand. I had to research it. I wanted to know what other people were doing and what helped them get to be where they are right now.

If I was going to try something new and work on a brand new project, I wanted it to be great right away. I had to know what I was doing right off the bat. Whatever the project was, it was going to be perfect right at launch.

Needless to say, a lot of those projects are still a work in progress. Why? Because there isn’t enough research to be done.

If I had just taken a leap of faith as I did with my blog, most of these projects would have already come to fruition. I’d learn along the way improving on these projects.

I always heard the advice, “just do it” and thought that sounded ridiculous. There’s a lot of planning, time, and money that goes into a project. How can you begin knowing nothing?

Which is why my advice to you today is: just do it.

I’m stuck in between a rock and a hard place with countless unfinished projects at the moment because I fell down the research and planning rabbit hole. Sure, you need to plan to a certain extent.

However, learning along the way, testing with experience, and trial and error are the best ways to learn about something new and improvement upon it.

If you have an idea, if you want to try something new, don’t wait.

Act on it right away and just do it.

Ignore the self-doubt and just do it.

Keep your options open and just do it.

Chances are, your future self will thank you for it later.
