Every day, we hear about the climate crisis. Warnings abound: Storms are coming, fires will rage, floods will spill, animals will die, human beings — and others — will migrate.

Dire and, often useless, these warnings share a common feature. They talk about what will be. Biosphere extinction, and storms happen now. Famines and heatwaves happen now. Migration and conflict happen now.
