Epics are made of short stories

We knew this would end abruptly too
like it did the last time we bid adieu.

The nights back then were filled with shorter stories,
and we spent those rainy days chasing rainbow’s dori*.
We slept in the roofless car beside roads tar-free
humming tone-deaf renditions of our favourite lori**.

Now, the promises that we made alone
from a time before we met, await.
And, we gotta split for a while, my love,
stay strong; our fork is right ahead.

Though, for a while,
there will only be melancholy,
but don’t you ever forget —
we are a long story.
