They bounce, they dodge, weave in and out
stay strong, round one
wild jeers from a preemptive crowd

Then they unravel, showing their fancy footwork
in an arresting tango hold

Still no blood, no foul
though we can hear the assembly howl

the purse is the prize
a left punch, a neck snap,
the big money’s in the Netflix app

the arena is hot with the main event
two well-matched gladiators and hungry spectators
who need to be fed,
not much has changed since the dawn of time

except perhaps pay-per-view
to see molecules collide.
