During Co-vid days , ‘Motivation’ is a powerful word that reverberates in our minds.

Firstly, let us analyse what the term means.

In my own words, I would term it as the positive upliftment of a person’s mind towards his/her target. To be more clear, picture a rocket ready to shoot off from launch pad. Motivation is the rocket which propels one towards victory in life.

As Stephen R Covey rightly quotes,

“Motivation is a fire from within. If someone else tries to lighten that fire under you, chances are it will burn very briefly.”

A bird doesn’t start its first flight, without a motivational nudge from its parents. Likewise, a morale boost is the trigger element for driving a person towards the road to success.

Our life is like a car, dashing through an electrifying downpour. Only with the right amount of motivation fuel, one can pull through safely to the successful destination.

One can create miracles out of steering oneself or others onto the road of success. So how can we get motivated?

UNRAVEL YOUR INNER GIFT

How many of you would like to hear, ‘Hey, great job!’, ‘You’ve got that potential in you to do XYZ’! ‘You must definitely pursue it because you have such beautiful skills’. On any day, these kind of phrases fills up my cheerfulness meter and refuels energy levels. Being an optimist, I have always felt positive reinforcement coarsing through my veins, when praised by family/friends/ colleagues to pursue the object of appreciation.

Appreciation is key to the motivation treasure box and it is an innate part of every human being. Use it wisely. For example, appreciate that guy around the corner, who does awesome graffiti on permitted spaces. Who knows? He might be inspired and become the next Picasso. Or at least pursue art seriously.

Say, ‘You make the best savouries in this area’ to the roadside woman selling your favourite eatables and be the source, to plant the idea of entrepreneurship in her mind.

Another example is, ‘You should really upload a video of this performance and send it to any renowned talent contest’, to any street singer whose magical voice kept ringing in your ears, long after the song even ended. You might be the reason for the birth of a new pop idol in the country.

It might appear that these are common remarks which do not have to be spoken out aloud. But encouraging words of upliftment, when expressed openly, can bring about a lot of positive life changes in fellow individuals.

Always try to be the reason behind your or anyone else’s walk of fame through appreciation or just a self-pat!

As Michelle Obama rightly points out,

“Success isn’t about the amount of money that you make. It’s the positive difference that you make in people’s lives and your own.”
