Feeling The Weight

I am tired
drained
numbed and emotionless

Once again,
I need to gorge on joy
and light-heartedness

So, for now no more challenges —
except for those I detect
do not force me to muse
and ponder
and instead —
encourage me to serenely
reflect

Once a child,
eyes full of lustre
the signs of the times
have landed on me —
heavy shouldered
I am leached

But this will change
I know me
I just have to re-arrange

This is how I feel today after three weeks of self-containment

To cheer myself up, I did what I do in times like this: Opened up a random page in one of my favourite poetry books and happened upon Hilaire Belloc’s little poem,
