Reaching into time
We draw memories of friends
High on life, and drugs

Your arm around me
My head slumped on your shoulder
We breathed the same air

You held onto me
In just one moment, and yet
Twice you let me go

Evolved from nothing
But our warmth in that city
We’ve trailed different paths

Two laces diverge
Like the back of a corset
Pull me back to you

I’d set myself free
If I knew that you were real
I’d reach for your soul
