I have a writer friend. Her name is Danielle and I consider her a phenomenal person.

In fact, I happen to know a good number of phenomenal people. Thanks to Danielle, I noticed they have seven traits in common.

Phenomenal people are:

Strong

Just like the lyrics to a song. They get knocked down. They get up again.

Raw

They wear their scars like badges. They seek the truth. Things kept secret and hidden, festered long enough. Now out in the light. Glass shattered, cracks in the ceiling. Not everything is a happy ending story, wrapped with a bow or a roll of duct tape.

Some things are raw, open wounds. It’s how phenomenal people help to heal a generation of wrongs, to make significant changes to what was once considered business as usual, the status quo.

Energetic

Life means burning the candle from both ends. There just aren’t enough hours in the day. Taking care of everyone and everything on their agenda. Phenomenal people practice self-care to have enough energy to do all that matters to have a gratifying, fulfilling life of giving and receiving.

Driven

They keep to-do lists. They are unstoppable.

Wise

Mistakes become lessons learned. Experience has made them wise beyond their years.

Kind

They practice kindness. They have empathy. They see the world. They envision a better one.

Grateful

They include gratitude in their prayers.

That’s my cue to thank Danielle for her words and all the phenomenal people I know. We may stumble, but it’s how we pick ourselves up and renew all that is good with this earth — that really counts.
