What On Earth Are Normal People?

A thought

Walking through the city this evening I found myself trying hard not to watch people or listen to passing conversations — I do need a rest sometimes.

However, as my head is always on the go, I began wondering instead about how many people walking around our globe might be considered normal. And then I began to think about how to define ‘normal’. Not that I would necessarily count myself as one.

And so instead of people watching, I decided to try and describe what for me might be a “normal” person. My attempt:

Normal people:

Are kind, don’t look at themselves constantly in windows, don’t spit.
Buy clothes which appeal to them and not because of the name tag.
Wash their hands after they’ve been to the toilet — sorry bathroom.
Apologise when they bang into others, show gratitude, and don’t brag.
Get all emotional watching a movie, try to provide for loved ones, have fears.
Show affection to their kids and worry when they see a kid on their own.
Take pleasure in what life has to offer, believe they’re not as good as others,
Drink water, laugh about themselves and about life, and… just get on with it.

I guess a lot of us are normal… to an extent. And this is comforting.
