What stands in the way becomes the way
There is no better way of these words of Marcus Aurelius to describe the fact overcoming obstacles and problems is what really defines and makes us improve.
Too often a challenge is perceived as a threat to our comfort zone but, instead, should be considered as a possibility to extend it.
We can fail to address something difficult and learn from the made mistakes or we can simply run away, a move that can feel us better in a short time but that, inevitably, will harm us.
“And if you want to know why all this running away cannot help you, the answer is simply this: you are running away in your own company.”
Seneca tells us that running away without facing situations is pointless, we’ll be always the same person, with the same weaknesses.
And is much, much better to have the willingness to define and take control of a situation, instead of letting the situation controls us, as often happens in a bad way.
So, don’t let a problem put us down, but let’s take control of it, in the part we effectively are able to do, without thinking too much about what is beyond our reach.
Let’s learn from it, becoming more confident and building our way.
