Why Bullies Bully

We have all encountered some kind of bully in our lifetime. It may have been that mean kid in middle school, or the higher-up at your job, or even one of your friends. Whether they harass you physically, verbally, emotionally, or through the internet, it’s okay to admit that it hurts.

If you are being physically harmed, you need to do whatever it takes to get out of that situation. Tell someone in power, press charges, even fight back, if absolutely necessary.

I’m going to talk about the non-physical types of bullying here, so please seek help if you are being assaulted.

Bullies thrive on making other people suffer, and they’re unavoidable. Once they see that you are affected by their actions, they become addicted to their sadistic behaviour. They love the power they have over others and will focus on any weakness that they discover their victim has.

The thing about bullies, however, is that they are also victims. I’m not saying that you should feel sorry for them, because, honestly, they lost any right to sympathy once they became bullies. But, the reason bullies bully is that they are insecure. They may be insecure about their physical appearance and make themselves…
