Problems? What Problems?

Really, you don’t add up problems. You eliminate them, and not necessarily one at a time.

Now that John Lee got the letter of appointment from the Central government, it’s now official, he is the next CE for the HKSAR come July 1st, 2022.

How many problems do you see? (Photo by Jackson Simmer on Unsplash)

He had started working as the CE already, except in a remote office instead. Mostly forming his own administrative team. He makes a statement from time to time, but it seems every time he does that, he put himself in an odd position.

Recently, he mentioned the new government will try to solve one problem a day, then in a year, they would have solved 365 problems. By then people will see some results. That’s a weird metaphor, I don’t think too many people would understand it. If you tell a young child that if he saves a dollar a day, he will have 365 dollars after one year. That, you can call it a result.

One can also set a target of making a saving of $365 in a year, but to say targeting to solve 365 problems in a year just make no sense. As a leader, of a government or any company, if you found many problems already, you don’t try to eliminate them one at a time. Many urgent ones must be dealt with right away, and probably need other people’s help too.

So far, we have a hard time understanding John Lee, and what exactly he wants to mean. Was that his thinking logic? Or he was reading off from the ghostwriter but actually doesn’t quite understand the concept? Perhaps that’s the real problem.
