I attended Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana this year as a Finance and Economics double major. I remember being so excited for college because it was one step closer to being an adult and choosing my own lifestyle. These are my 5 biggest takeaways throughout this previous year.

  1. There Are Talented People Everywhere

Going through high school I had always been an average student but excelled at athletics and entrepreneurial tasks… such as this. However, once you get to college, you realize how many talented people there are in this world. Throughout this experience I was expecting to show up and still be the best soccer player and most innovative kid in the class; but boy was I wrong. I was surrounded by individuals who were determined to succeed and had their own form of creativity. Observing all of this talent that was limited to my 30 person class, motivated my competitive nature. There are thousands of people in the world who are trying to do exactly what you want to do. You just need to make sure that you do what it takes to want it more. This is something that should be motivating, not demotivating. Understand what separates you from the person that sit’s right next to you in the office or the classroom and always strive to be better. The same way whenever you are running a race, you just focus on the person that’s right in front…
