At the turning point of human development

An opinion from the Internet about the state of humanity in our generation:

“It is my feeling and thought that we are at a point where within the next generation or so a change is on the verge of starting or maybe in very tiny tidbits it has already begun. But it is very slow of growth thus far.

However, in watching the mannerisms, attitudes, thought processes, actions, and belief patterns, and so forth of each new generation, now is the first time I can say I have seen and felt a shift in the procession of our youth towards more caring and understanding or at least an effort of trying and a positive impression towards learning about and taking and making (or the want to) a stand for better future aspects than there have been in the past several generations which, didn’t seem to give much of a damn (forgive me, not all but most) about anything besides themselves as individuals at their current point in time and\or of their own, not needs but wants at any given moment.

Entitlement is what I think this attitude was called. But this is a new and very subtle shift but it is at least and at last there. However small, it is I believe the start of the hope we have been looking for and so much need.

Now, how to feed that hope with the proper help, knowledge, and direction through all this miserable adversity and greed is something I am very curious about how to accomplish. As I do believe, there is hope afloat. Just in need of the proper nutrients and care for its growth and become fruitful instead of futile. I am genuinely interested in your thoughts on this.”

I fully agree with you.

The general emptiness, loss of direction, the lost excitement, the fear about the future softens people, especially as they see how helpless, clueless, laughable the “leaders and experts” have become.

The pandemic, the reactions to all other problems very harshly exposed those who were, are supposed to lead us, give us direction, thus we reached a state where nobody trust anybody anymore. This is a very fragile, potentially volatile situation and here, as you said, we badly need some positive education, direction.

And this leads us to the turning point of the whole process. We cannot truly develop sympathy, mutuality, common thinking, mutual cooperation until we understand, feel what has been stopping us all along. We can’t overcome our crisis, we can’t build a better, safer, more equal, and sustainable human system until we all understand that the first step is understanding, correcting, upgrading ourselves.

This is the bitter pill we all need to swallow, as everything else is built upon recognizing that we do not need to change, correct others, we do not need to change the world, we only need to change ourselves — each from their own standpoint, viewpoint.

Then — when we learn how to think, act above against our inherently egocentric, subjective viewpoints, calculations for the benefit of others — we will be able to connect and rebuild humanity. But this won’t come by itself as we do not have true sense, feeling of others in us by default, we simply cannot make calculations for the sake of others above self-benefit by default, we were not given such a program from evolution.

We have to acquire, learn, practice this new ability so we could act above and against our original program. This conscious process will make us truly human and now that we are collectively softened, on the brink of self-destruction, finally humanity has matured to the point where we can start this new, conscious, positive development.
