How to de-escalate by starving negative behavior and feeding positive behavior?

How to feed positive behavior?

How do you feed positive behavior?

Have you been dealing with the same people negative and toxic behaviour for so long? Have you witnessed negative behavior exhibited by the same student or same employee often? Is your day mainly spent on discipline and dealing with misconduct? Do you have a good understanding of your students or employees profile so you know how and when to support?

What is interesting to note is that when you are constantly dealing with difficult behavior, reacting to bad attitude, de-escalating situations and listening to whiners and complainers…the climate becomes contagiously toxic, dangerous and the behavior will escalate ever more.

What have you done to attempt to unravel the bad behavior? Is it a learnt helplessness, defense mechanism or attention seeking? What is the change that needs to happen and why? How do you turn negative behavior into positive behavior?

Some type of people behave in a negative way to attract attention. While, unintentionally and subsequently, we continue to feed the negativity by calming, listening and punishing with appropriate consequences, therefore the environment becomes gloomy and damaging.
