Faith is What’s Left When Our Beliefs Have Been Blown to Hell
How do we protect our light in a dark world? It’s a question that’s been coming up often lately in my coaching work and in my personal life too.
How do we avoid giving into despair when there’s so much that’s painful to bear witness to these days?
The teacher Abraham once shared: You’re looking at what is instead of what REALLY is.
The meaning behind this teaching is: what we can perceive with our senses is not the full story of all there is. There is more. There is a deeper layer to life, to all of our experiences.
Our judgements about what’s happening (and why!) are different than the events themselves and our judgements are also very much influenced by our conditioning. It’s like we’re looking at life through dirty lenses most of the time.
When we’re able to consciously recognize this, we can let go a bit and find solace. What we understand about life is not all there is to understand. We’re living inside a house with wings we haven’t even walked through yet. We can choose to trust instead of control — trust that we have what it takes to respond skillfully to whatever is unfolding, regardless of how overwhelming it feels at first glance.
