Freelancing Is Not The Same For Us

The amount of “opportunities" when you’re white is greater and it’s misleading to pretend it isn’t.

That Can Do Spirit!

There’s frustration felt often by Black people and people of color when we see tweets or pieces written by a white person stating they make thousands upon thousands of dollars in a month and then proceed to say that anyone can do it, you just have to believe and go for it.

Let’s stop right there. Not everyone can do it. It is not a cakewalk for everyone who tries. Belief and grit does play a role, but the majority of the white people who make this claim would fold if given even a fraction of the barriers that we face.

We are confronted with the same trials that white people have with the added tribulations that are distinct to us, especially Black people. And if you’re a Black transgender, disabled individual, you are at several intersections of oppression that will further curtail your ability to effectively strive for your goals.
