Homeopathy is to Medicine What Homeschooling is to Education

There are many reasons people choose to homeschool. Whether the specific factors are religious, environmental, or curriculum-based, the motivation behind the reasons is often similar. We have a vision of what we would like our children’s education to look like, and finding a lack of suitable choices, we decide to do it ourselves.

Doing it ourselves, however, does not mean going it alone. On the contrary, it means choosing carefully from the many groups and learning tools available to make our vision a reality. Tight-knit communities of homeschoolers are springing up all over the internet, and more educational resources are available today than ever before, making homeschooling a truly realistic option for those that wish to take the task into their own hands. We cultivate our own classrooms from the world around us, and design our own curriculums based on the needs of our family.

What else does doing it ourselves mean? Carefully considering the way in which we want to educate our children, we take into account their unique personalities, strengths, and areas of limitation. We’re able to construct a curriculum that works best for the child, for the teacher, the family, all while strongly incorporating our own values and beliefs. In short, we are providing the best educational experience possible for our kids, because we realize that the one-size-fits-all approach is not the best fit for our family.

As a former homeschooling mom and Homeopath, I’ve often thought about similarities between homeopathy and homeschooling, and I understand why many homeschool families choose homeopathy for their family’s wellness needs. Here are just a few of the reasons:

Individualized Medicine

Just as a one-size-fits-all approach for education does not work for many homeschooling families, the same is true of medicine.

I hear from many patients, that the reason they seek me out for care is that they feel no one is really listening to them, and that their conventional doctor has failed to see them and their children as individuals. In their quest for health, they are shuffled from doctor to doctor, given lists of medications, yet are somehow still sick. Frustrated by the lack of options aside from antibiotics and suppressive medications, they come seeking a path to true wellness and a deeper healing for themselves and their children, and find it with homeopathy.

Looking More Deeply

A child-led education is the gold standard of homeschooling. When we are able to look for clues from the child to know what they are ready to learn, the education is much more successful. The same principle holds true for patients and homeopathy. When we are able to view symptoms as clues to the underlying problem, we’re able to address the root cause of illness, bringing health and vitality to the whole person. Honoring the body’s ability to heal itself, homeopathy simply stimulates that innate ability.

Paying attention to what the individual is expressing, either in an educational setting or when using homeopathic medicine, always yields the most fruitful results. This is because the life force of a human being will always speak the truth, and if we are listening, we can hear exactly what the person needs.

Natural Values

Many homeschooling families also focus on living a natural lifestyle, avoiding processed and refined foods, choosing to nourish their bodies as well as their minds.

Homeopathy is the original natural medicine! Originally developed in Germany over 200 years ago by a Christian physician named Samuel Hahnemann, it has stood the test of time as one of the world’s leading natural healthcare choices. We use tiny doses of natural substances to stimulate a person’s body to heal itself. In this way, conventional drugs are not needed as often, because we simply are not sick anymore!

If you felt called to homeschool because of these reasons, you will find a great and reliable friend in homeopathy. It is very empowering to have the tools at your disposal to help your family thrive in health, just as you are doing with education. I encourage you to find out more!
