It’s Time To Declutter Your Device
A clean phone skyrockets your productivity

Having a clean desk or working setting can have a big impact on your productiveness. Just because you’re working from home doesn’t mean you have to let your office look like a pigsty. Keeping your home tidy and organised is good for your well being.
Have you ever thought about decluttering your phone? Since you spend a great deal of time on your phone, an argument can be made to declutter and keeping your phone organised. The apps you’ve installed can slow down your phone over time. The more apps you’ve installed means the more risk of them not respecting your privacy.
Declutter the home screen
Clearing your home screen is the easiest thing you can do. I recommend that you keep it as minimal as you can. You can use widgets for things you use for everyday use. This will obviously vary from user to user. The key thing is to make sure you keep your home screen free from clutter.
Delete apps you no longer use
This one can be hard if you use apps almost every day. You’ll have to be brave and go through any apps you don’t use and delete them. I recommend that you start with any apps that are outdated and you no longer use. You should also remove any stock apps or bloatware apps. Does your device not allow you to remove stock apps? This is what you can do.
Hide any unused apps
For any of those pesky apps, you can’t delete, you can hide them from your sight. You may also do this for apps that you don’t want to delete. If you’re an Android user many ROMs (Read Only Memory) come preinstalled on many phones from big companies that have an option that allows you to hide apps in app drawers.
If you’re an iPhone user there are many ways to hide apps. One option from many is to move any unwanted apps you have into a folder and move far away from the home screen.
Buy a launcher
Launchers are substitute user interfaces that which allow Android user to have the ability to customise their home screen. This isn’t available for iPhone. The launcher will sit on top of the Android device without making any changes to the operating systems.
Launchers allow users the freedom to make changes to their devices to whatever they feel comfortable with.
Here are some options to check out:
Smart Launcher 5
- Smart Launcher 5 (free)
- Smart Launcher 5 Pro ($20.99/lifetime)
Nova Launcher
- Nova Launcher (free)
- Nova Launcher Prime $4.99/lifetime)
Use app drawer to move apps into folders by categories
The best way to make a dramatic change to your app drawer is organising all your apps into a folder by categories. By default apps in Android folder are sorted alphabetically. To take this even further you can organise everything into a folder. Doing this will clear up more space on your device.
Backup media using the cloud
How many photos and videos do you have stored on your phone? You can declutter this by using cloud services to back up your media.
Some options are:
- Mega
- Sync
- Tresorit
- Dropbox Basic
Now go forth and declutter your phone.
